Ellie Newelle“I create abstracted imagery that is fundamentally tied to the exploration of my ancestry. Raised in Japan, I began to foster an interest in art, as drawing was a common part of Japanese youth culture. As I moved through college I began to discover the relevance of ancestral ties evident in my creative process. As part of that process I recycle found materials, a tradition I discovered was common to my samurai great grandfather.”http://bit.ly/1aMdhxL |

Erin Berrett“The paradox of the term 'still life' inspires me. There's a fundamental tension between the still and the life, isn't there? That's what I try to capture when I paint. To me, objects are never completely motionless, or emotionless for that matter. They tremble. They vibrate. And those vibrations are produced not only by the construction of the object, but the external forces exerted on it --- the angle of the light, for instance, and the perspective of the viewer. What's a good painting to me? It's hard to know, but I'll tell you this: when the object comes alive, and the environment, the viewer and I all participate to make that happen - that's success to me."http://bit.ly/1imUD73 |

Tiana Birrell"To walk intentionally is to seek to see deliberately. As I traverse the world, I seek glimpses of the small, the intimate, the gandiose, and the mysteriously sublime. Nothing is ever captured, but translation was never the goal to begin with." Tiana Birrell is from a small town in Massachusetts but currently resides in Chicago where she attends the Art Institute of Chicago.http://bit.ly/1bSNJBJ |

Stephanie Clark Kelly“I consider myself a painter and I paint with thread. The process of transforming string into art struck me as something visually stimulating with complex simplicity. Engaging both traditional and innovative techniques in employing formal qualities with density, texture and pattern. The embroidery floss is my palette and the needle is my paintbrush. I like to think I can reclaim the word “craft” which contains the idea of an unusual frame of knowledge and skill passed on from generation to generation.”http://stephaniekellyclark.wix.com/stephaniekclark |

Ruatoto HenryBorn and raised on the small island of Rarotonga, I was intrigued at how traditional art reflected the life of the island. I trained myself in sketch artistry and let my sketches take on the form and symmetry of the traidional art I had grown to love. What started as a self-taught hobby pulling from what I had known has become a full-time passion, a new creation, blending my Rarotongan heritage with the tradional designs of the Maori or Mokohttp://on.fb.me/1aMdyAR |

Thonis"I'm an absolute watch and art lover. For me, both are objects to get lost in a story and be amazed by every detail that offer surprises around every corner. My work is often modern and abstract. I like to use vibrant colors that catch attention. Like watchmakers, I spend the greatest attention to details and to the quality of materials used in my work. All my work is made in the lovely city of Amsterdam."Thonis |

Jacob SödergrenJacob Södergren is a contemporary artist based in Stockholm, Sweden. Art has been a great part of Jacob’s life as long as he can remember. He has tried many different styles and methods and likes the possibility to vary, from sketching with a simple lead pencil to creating abstract art by using whatever tool available. Jacob prefers colorful abstract themes, leaving room for imagination and interpretation. He usually describes his art as structured chaos and works without fine brushstrokes or precise ideas. He rarely knows what the result will look like when he starts – by mixing colors on the way in multiple layers of paint, anything can happen during the process. Since Jacob never has the patience to wait for the paint to dry, he likes to work with quick drying and easy-mixed acrylichttp://www.jacobsodergren.com |

Larkin McIntyre"I am inspired by the abstract expressionist greats of the 40's and 50's and choose to use my hands to apply paint instead of a brush. Working on a horizontal surface from all sides, I feel closer to my art and more easily able to mix vivid color combinations along with creating contrasting movement. Uninterested in painting known objects, I prefer to create abstract images that arouse emotions unique to the individual viewer."http://bit.ly/1bY9x1Q |

Christine Olmstead“When I was 18 months old my mother (a lifelong professional artist and graphic designer) gave me a set of watercolors. The paint set is long gone, but I've been painting ever since. I've studied art history and recreated all of the masterpieces to learn technique, stroke, and color palettes. I'm a nationally recognized artist with a bachelor's degree in classical liberal arts. I'm mostly influenced by soothing music and the french impressionists, namely Monet and Degas. When you look at my pieces I want you to feel at peace, calmed, and hopeful. I want my viewers to know that there is still beauty left in the world, and I hope to inspire others to find beauty in their ordinary lives."https://christineolmstead.com |
